 POSITION:          Transfer Student Advisor                                 

REPORTS TO:            Dir. of Admin. Services & Academic Advising                   

               

DEPARTMENT:        Bryant Zhuhai

POSITION SUMMARY:   The Transfer Student Advisor at Bryant Zhuhai is responsible for supporting Bryant Zhuhai’s Director of Administrative Services and Academic Advising in the effective and efficient delivery and administration of transfer admission programs and processes and academic advising related to the 2+2 program, as well as the exchange/international academic experiences to Bryant University, Smithfield. The Transfer Student Advisor is also responsible for maintaining collaborative working relationships with faculty, students, other members of the Bryant Zhuhai and Bryant University (Smithfield) communities, as well as with additional international education providers.

 

The Bryant Zhuhai/Bryant Smithfield Exchange Program offers students the opportunity to gain a global perspective, experience a different culture and to become proficient in another language. Study abroad opportunities may be a semester, summer or full academic year of study through sponsored study abroad programs, exchange programs, or short-term study abroad programs that are incorporated into courses taught by Bryant Zhuhai faculty members.

 

TRAINING AND QUALIFICATIONS:  This position requires an individual with a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, and relevant experience in international education and/or student development and advising. Master’s degree preferred. Recent experience living, working or studying abroad is imperative. Proficiency in both Chinese and English is required, as is the knowledge of varying cultures. Excellent interpersonal and communications skills are required to effectively advise students, interact with faculty and staff, and coordinate with representatives from the institution service providers that sponsor university-affiliated programs in various countries abroad.  The ability to interpret and administer academic and exchange program policies is important. An in depth understanding of visa and international travel processes and procedures is also required. PRINCIPAL ACOUNTABILITIES: The principal accountabilities of the Transfer Student Advisor at Bryant Zhuhai include but are not limited to the following:

 

Academic Advisor

  1. Facilitate the process of enrolling students in the Bryant Zhuhai 2+2 program, and through effective advisement, position them to apply as junior transfer students to Bryant University, Smithfield, or other U.S.-based institutions of higher education.
  2. Perform other duties related to academic advising, as assigned.

 

Admission

3.      Aid in the Bryant Zhuhai transfer admission process by serving as a liaison with Bryant Smithfield’s Admission Office to best understand requirements for transfer admission opportunities for students enrolled in the 2+2 program.

4.      Identify additional institutions of higher education in the United States that will accept first and second year credits from Bryant Zhuhai and facilitate the development of appropriate articulation agreements; develop an understanding of the requirements for transfer admission to the identified institutions and foster relationships with the institutions, where appropriate.

5.      Aid students in understanding various transfer options and assist them with the process of applying for transfer admission and matriculating to institutions of higher education in the United States.

Exchange Programs

  1. Assist Bryant Zhuhai’s Director of Administrative Services and Academic Advising as an advisor to and resource for students with regard to the Bryant Zhuhai to Bryant Smithfield Exchange Program including providing guidelines and criteria for program participation and application processes. 
  2. Develop and design information materials relating to the exchange program; coordinate exchange program-related events; organize and facilitate pre-and post-departure meetings and events.
  3. Serve as liaison with several internal departments at Bryant Smithfield, including but not limited to Academic Affairs, Financial Aid, Controller/Bursar’s Office and faculty, as well as the program coordinators from service providers to ensure an efficient and effective process for students currently abroad or those looking to participate in the exchange program. Responsibilities also include strategizing with departments on annual initiatives, and ensuring that best-practices and styles are implemented. 
  4. Supervise the Bryant Zhuhai students who attend the two-week American cultural experience program on Bryant Smithfield’s campus.
  5. Perform other duties related to exchange programming, as assigned.

Terms of Appointment

Successful candidates will be appointed on a full-time fixed term contract. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered.
